Of all the monetization strategies I’ve used over the past 9 years, affiliate marketing is still my favorite way to earn passive income from my blogs.
Seriously, look, I honestly don’t think I could have sustained my business if it weren’t for the little success I’ve had with my affiliate marketing model over the years.
If you’ve been following my blogging journey for a while, you probably know that in addition to promoting affiliate products, I also run and run a freelance web design business, an e-commerce business, and I sell digital (e-book) products.
Should you also do affiliate marketing to increase your blog income? Of course, I think you should.
What Do You Need To Get Started With Affiliate Marketing?
Aside from having lots of valuable and relevant blog content with reasonably good search engine visibility, the other vital ingredient needed to be successful with affiliate marketing is a targeted audience and lots of blog subscribers and readers who depend on you.
If you thought there was some kind of magic bullet or secret way to make money blogging, then no!
There is no such thing and I don’t recommend taking any advice or earning system that asks you to hand over your hard-earned money upfront.
Most are scams or just full of false promises!
Well I did. And I say that because I was a victim of all these scams when I first started. There are plenty of trusted bloggers you can follow and books you can buy on Amazon for little money to read specific technical strategies from real-life marketers.

Find the Best Affiliate Programs
Finding the right affiliate programs and networks can be a complicated and time-consuming task. Where do you start too? Fortunately for you, I have that complete information in this post.
Below is a list of 13 great affiliate programs and networks to consider for registration.
And yes, these programs are geared toward bloggers, online businesses, and niche marketers. I use many of these same programs to earn an income from my blog, so feel free to try them out.
Caution before signing up to any of these affiliate programs: Make sure you adhere to the terms set out by each affiliate program or network below, and always use smart, no-nonsense sales strategies and tactics to promote your affiliate products.
1. Amazon Associates Program
The Amazon Affiliate program was one of the first programs I signed up for when I started my affiliate marketing journey almost 10 years ago.
As you well know, Amazon is quite a big company and has over 1 million products to choose from and their affiliate program is easy to sign up and use. You can earn up to 12% commission on qualified referral sales.
Payments are made by check for a minimum of $100 or direct bank transfer for a minimum of $10. The smartest way to increase your Amazon affiliate income as a blogger, in my experience, is to create some useful reviews of all products relevant items that you purchased from Amazon on your own. For example, I used to review workbooks, software, processing hardware, and any technological equipment I purchased to use in my business.
Another great way to increase your Amazon earnings is to create niche specific websites.
Perhaps you enjoy cycling and could create a niche site about cycling helmets, for example. As long as you can drive traffic to a site about cycling helmets and the competition isn’t too high, you can create a profitable niche site and monetize it with Amazon. This is just an example I’m giving you.
2. Envato Market
Finally, we come to the Envato marketplace, which is a huge one-stop shop for website owners, web designers, and developers.
Envato offers many extension services and products, and with each of them, you have the opportunity to earn a referral sales fee using the dedicated affiliate program provided by Impact.
Their commission rate is 30% per sale and their affiliate platform is very easy to use.
There are, of course, many other popular programs that you can sign up for and start earning. I’ve highlighted some of my favorites above, but here’s a short list of other programs you might be interested in.
3. CJ Affiliate
Next on my list is CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction), another huge affiliate network with over 900 million monthly customers. Many big top tier companies will have their affiliate programs created with CJ. The competition, however, can be tough.
I started using cj in 2010 on my own, but at first I struggled to deal with the platform. As I said, competition can be tough for the products you want to promote.
I still use CJ today, but my efforts, to be honest, weren’t as good as I’ve done with other programs. The minimum payout is $50, but you can increase this limit if you like in the settings.

4. ShareASale
ShareASale is one of my favorite affiliate network programs for bloggers. I have been using them since 2011 and they are used by many reputable companies that offer high quality products and services with their own commission levels.
The minimum payout on ShareASale is $50, but you can increase this minimum amount up to $1,000.
Here is a list of affiliate programs hosted on ShareASale that I use and recommend:
4.1 StudioPress
One of the most popular, trusted and powerful WordPress theme frameworks offering 35% commission per sale.
4.2 LongTailPro
A powerful and comprehensive competitive keyword research tool for bloggers and niche operators that offers 30% commission per sale.
4.3 WPForms
A drag and drop WordPress contact form plugin that offers a 20% commission for qualifying sales.
4.4 WPEngine
One of the most popular and secure wordpress hosting service providers offering a commission of 35% or more per sale.
5.5 OptinMonster
A powerful plugin to generate opt-in modules to generate leads from the WordPress conversion toolkit offering 20% commission per sale. So far, I managed to earn $4,600 from ShareASale.
5. Bluehost
Bluehost is a well-established web hosting company that has been around for a long time. Love them or hate them, they offer good value for money when it comes to launching your first blog. Their affiliate program is also very generous, and you can earn $65 per qualifying member.
Even if you only manage a few subscriptions per month, it’s still a nice additional income, don’t you think? Bluehost will hold payments for 45 days before making a payment, this is one of their terms.
6. SiteGround
SiteGround is another popular and trusted web hosting company among bloggers and WordPress users. Their affiliate program is simple, the more sales you refer the more you earn. At a minimum, you can earn $50 per qualifying sale.
From my experience with the siteground affiliate program, at least 1 out of 5 successful sales end up being refunded or cancelled. SiteGround will hold payments for up to 90 days before making a payment.
7. Thrive Themes
Now we come to my all-time favorite affiliate programs for bloggers, offered by none other than Thrive Themes.
If you use any of the Thrive Themes products in your business, you’ll know how wonderful their products are.
Their affiliate program is one of the best in the business, with high conversions and reliable monthly payouts. The minimum payout is $20 and you can earn a 50% commission per qualifying sale. Three themes make payments for 30 days before making a monthly payment.
8. Template Monster
Template Monster is an ecommerce website that offers premium quality website templates for sale. Currently, the site has over 25,000 pre-configured website templates to choose from, and as you can imagine, they also have a lucrative affiliate program that bloggers can sign up for.
Your commission rate is simple, you get 30% for every new sale and 10% for any additional sales from the same customer. Affiliates also have the opportunity to progressively increase the percentage of fees up to 50% per sale.

9. ClickBank
ClickBank is one of the oldest and largest affiliate networks in the industry and another platform I started using in 2010. Now unfortunately there is a downside to ClickBank and that is the sheer volume of low quality digital products and spam that plagues the market.
This doesn’t mean that ClickBank is bad in any way, however, you just have to be very careful about what you choose to buy, use and promote on your blog. First look carefully.

SEMRush is a software services company that provides professional SEO analysis tools for bloggers and online marketers. They also have a generous affiliate program that pays up to 40% commission on every qualifying referral.
12. LeadDyno
LeadDyno is a simple yet powerful affiliate marketing software tool for bloggers and marketers. Their affiliate program pays a 20% recurring fee on all qualified leads. Recurring means you can earn revenue from all active subscribers the months.
13. Omnistar (OSI Affiliate)
Here is another popular affiliate marketing software provider. With Omnistar you can also earn a recurring fee of 20% per referral. Both OSI and LeadDyno are great options for earning regular passive income.
