Although not as many people will be searching for such long-tail keywords, the fact is that big companies may not be interested in such specific queries, making it easier for you to get some traffic for your website using these keywords instead.

Before we move to the next topic, I want you to pause a bit and think about your buyer persona based on the product or services that you offer, and then write it down on a piece of paper, Google Docs, or Microsoft Office.

In every post that you create, big or small, always know your goals. First, if you’re going to post an image on Instagram or Facebook, think first of what you want to achieve by posting such an image.

Goals can be measurable or what we can call metric goals, which have to be very specific and should have deadlines. And unmeasurable, or what we can call valued goals.

For example:
Metric Goals: I want to write a blog post about happiness. My metric goals would be on that blog post. I want to generate two thousand leads at the end of the month and convert at least 30% of the new leads to website traffic.

Value Goals: On the other hand, my value goals would be to help people to understand the true meaning of happiness and provide inspiration, knowledge, and wisdom.

Now that I have set my goals, I will start writing my content.
In order to achieve my goals, I need my audience to engage with my blog posts.

But how do you keep your audience engaged with your content? You can achieve it by using the A.I.D.A formula: Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action.

It is very important to pay attention to presentation, as appearance matters, as well as the words we choose to present something. Do not neglect the design of your pages, the vocabulary and the way you write, as well as the images, videos, and audios used to grab the attention of potential customers.

No one gets attracted to something ugly, poorly done, and unappealing.

Desire: It will trigger your audience to relate their feelings or their thoughts to the blog post in my example.

Are you living a happy life or do you just don’t have an idea? Read on. ” This last paragraph will create desire in my audience.

They would relate their emotions and thoughts to the question, which would enlighten them as they read the blog post. The last word, but not the least, is the word action.

Action: It comes at the end of the post, and it is the part where you will ask your audience to take action in your blog post. You can ask them to click a button to visit another website. This is also the part where you will achieve your goal.

And keep in mind that you also shouldn’t leave the best for last. That’s a big mistake. Be sure to hit with the best you have as soon as possible, then present a call to action feature to close the deal.

Create effective bite-sized content on social media with catchy images and interesting headlines by using the A.I.D.A formula above, then direct your audience to your website to make sales.

After you have your content, distribute it to different channels like social media, email, or what have you.

In my example below, since my goal is to have new email subscriptions, I will ask them to fill in a form with their email. In return, I will send them a PDF copy of the magazine.

Lead generation always works like that; you have to give your audience something in exchange for their emails.

So far, we have covered two sections of this tutorial: how to create a target audience and how to target your audience using free content.

We will now be talking about how to do market research and how to make sales online.

SEO is an abbreviation for search engine optimization, and it refers to the process of increasing the likelihood of a piece of content being quickly and accurately recognized, classified, and arranged by search engine bot software.

Using SEO, you will be able to help search engines, such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, Duckduckgo, etc., understand what your content is about and who your target audience is by choosing your preferred keywords.

A good SEO strategy will put your content in front of many others, helping you to gain a decent advantage and therefore increase your chances of better rankings and driving traffic to your website.

Market research is a process of determining the viability of a new product or service. It can also allow marketers to get feedback and opinions from potential customers.

Market research is a way of getting an overview of consumers’ wants, needs, and beliefs.

Why is market research so important?

Market research is important for two reasons:
First: by doing market research, you will be able to identify your customer’s problems and desires, so you can develop new products, services, and content based on the data gathered through research.

Second: well prepared market research will help you to foresee trends way ahead of time and adjust not only your products but your whole business strategy to fit future changes. You can think of marketing research as a crystal ball that gives you a huge advantage over your competitors.

  • Our first question would be to ask the audience their biggest problem that requires digital marketing. In this section, we will identify the pain points of our audience or target customer.
  • Our second question would be to ask the audience why it is important for you to solve this problem. This question will specify what they need in order to solve their biggest problem, which is digital marketing.
  • Our third question would be a multiple choice where we are going to ask them how important it is to solve their biggest problem in digital marketing. And this section will allow us to filter the answers according to the levels of importance.

As a bonus, you could also ask for their email addresses at the end of the survey so we could contact them once we have a solution to their problems.

The question now is, how can you get responses to a survey? Well, there are different ways to do it.

If you already have an email marketing platform like Belgium, you can send it to your email list as a link. You can also send the survey directly to the email addresses that you already have.

But what if you’re just starting and you don’t have any of those paid tools?
In this case, you can go to your personal Gmail, and from there you can extract all the email addresses from your contact list.

If you have a LinkedIn account, you can also extract contact information from there. Once you have all those extracted emails from Gmail and LinkedIn, you can use them to send your survey.

We know that you might think of this as spamming and that people might just ignore your email survey, but that’s not completely true.

A well-presented email survey will attract far more attention than you think, and you may be surprised at how many people check and respond to your survey; even if only 5% of your entire contact responds, that is sufficient to begin with.

You can also use the Facebook community by asking people to answer your survey from there.
The best way to do it is by first joining community niche groups related to your target audience.

In our example case, we would search for digital marketing groups on Facebook, join those groups, and then post our survey under the discussion tab and wait for responses. Another effective way is by using online forums.

For that, all you need to do is to go on Google and search for online forums within your niche. For example, digital marketing forums: join them, and then post your survey there.

Now let’s go back to our form. When we get enough responses, we can go ahead and extract them, then analyze the data for you to have a clear understanding of what your target audience needs.

The next big step after analyzing the responses is to do the following:
1. Determine the common problems and desires based on the responses.
2. Create an email list from those who responded.
3. Create an effective sales campaign that will outline your solutions based on the problems that you created in the survey.
4. Create new functions for your products and services.
5. Create blogs or blogs to address the common problems within your niche, also based on the survey that you had.
6. Rethink, refresh, or enhance your brand, mission, and vision.
After you have your content, distribute it to different channels like social media, email, or what have you.

Above all, making sales is the true testament of all the marketing strategies that you have created.

Where do we start?

To make sales online, you have a few options. You can create or choose an e-commerce platform, like Amazon, Facebook, and Shopify, among others.

They have their own digital marketing strategies there. However, these platforms make it very expensive to have and run a fully functional e-commerce store, as their free plans are just too basic.

Another disadvantage is that all the market gain that you get from your hard effort and money will be linked to these platforms, and once you leave, you will lose all the work done in marketing.

On the other hand, if you build your own e-commerce store, your costs will be lower, your marketing will increase the value of your store and domain, and you will have total control over how to monetize and run your online shop, so if you can, the best practice is to have all your content on your website as a starting point.

Besides, if one day you decide to leave your business, you can sell your website for a good amount of money and have someone else continue the business where you stopped.
